Türkiye, Yoga and a Bit of Magic: How I Escaped Autumn and Found Myself

There are moments in life when everything seems normal, but there is emptiness inside. Autumn has always affected me in a special way: it seems beautiful, but more and more often I want silence, a stop, some kind of pause between thoughts. One of those days I caught myself just scrolling through my phone looking for… I don’t even know what. That’s how I came across https://yogajourney.ru. A platform with yoga tours to different parts of the world, but not from the “sports and sweat” series — everything here was about meaning, balance and atmosphere. Among the options, one caught my eye — Turkey, a villa by the sea, a retreat in silence. I thought about it for a couple of days. And then I just went and signed up.

Sea, silence and no drama

Landed in Antalya, then a transfer and here it is – a villa in solitude, where instead of the sounds of cars you can hear the waves whispering with the stones. Everything is simple, but so harmonious. White walls, wooden shutters, a spacious terrace with a view of the sunset, and in the air – a feeling that you can really breathe here. I immediately felt that this is the very place where you can exhale and forget how many letters are waiting for an answer and how long it has been since the tasks in the tracker were closed.

Yoga without pathos and haste

Every morning began with breathing techniques and gentle practices. We practiced on the terrace – the sun was just rising, the air was still cool, and you felt every movement as if for the first time. The instructor did not dictate, did not rush – she was simply nearby, showing the way, but not imposing a route. This was not a marathon of asanas, but a dialogue with the body. And in this dialogue, I suddenly realized how much I yearned for a simple human feeling “I am here, I am alive, I feel good.”

Dinners where you can be yourself

A separate story is the evenings. We gathered at the common table, ate vegetarian food (yes, delicious and without meat – and I was surprised by this), talked about everything. Without masks, without social networks, without “how are you – fine”. About life, about fears, about what hurts, and about what warms. At some point, I realized that I did not need to pretend to be strong, interesting or successful – everyone here was just real. And this, it turns out, is rare.

Who would have thought that it would all start with a rug?

I wasn’t looking for enlightenment, I wasn’t expecting miracles, and I certainly didn’t consider myself a “yoga person.” But at some point, lying in shavasana and feeling the warm wind blowing on my face, I suddenly realized that it had become quiet inside. Not empty – but quiet. As if the internal radio receiver that had been broadcasting all the time that I should, was obliged, was not in time, was not reaching.

This trip was something like a gentle but deep push. Not a sudden change, but the beginning of a movement – towards myself, towards my body, towards my feelings. Returning from Turkey was not a sudden awakening. On the contrary, I arrived with the feeling that I now have a place for myself in my schedule. And I don’t want to push it aside any more.

What was left with me after?

I still catch myself mentally going back there – to the terrace overlooking the sea, that evening when herbal tea smelled like rain, and someone read poetry out loud. It wasn’t just a vacation. It was a real journey inside myself. Without pathos. Without filters. Just alive and real.

If you are looking for a vacation that will leave you with something deeper than just a tan, try a yoga tour. Perhaps, like me, you will discover something unexpected in yourself. And I know for sure: next time I will go to YogaJourney again. Because it is not just a trip. It is an experience. It is a meeting with yourself.
